BYU Baseball Returns Home from Dominican Republic with a 4-0 Record and Stories of Thousands of Under-privileged Children that Benefited from Donations by 5 Star Legacy


Highland, Utah (PRWEB) December 15, 2011

Founder of 5 Star Legacy Foundation Mark Comer and his family left for the Dominican Republic earlier in 2011 with 500 pounds of baseball equipment that had been donated through various little league teams including the Highland Hitmen from Highland, UT. What started out as a family cultural vacation, and an idea to give under-privileged children in the Dominican Republic a few hundred pounds of donated baseball gloves, cleats, catchers equipment, and bats quickly morphed into something much bigger.

The BYU baseball coaches and team were planning a trip to the Dominican Republic to take part in a series of baseball games with the Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees developmental teams. BYU finished with 4 wins and 0 losses.

After hearing stories that transpired earlier in the year with the donations of the Highland little league teams, BYU assistant coach Ryan Roberts approached Mark and 5 Star Legacy Foundation with an idea to make their trip even more impactful. 5 Star Legacy Foundation was thrilled to partner with BYU Baseball to plan and organize service opportunities for their players and coaches.

Through strategic partnerships with the city of Orem, Synergy Worldwide, Wal-Mart, Flagship Homes and many more, 5 Star Legacy Foundation was able to secure the following:
